Nicolas Maillart took over the family estate in 2003. A trained oenologist, he has focused the range on mature, fruity and complex champagnes, thanks in particular to the introduction of oak barrels at the estate. The vineyard, located exclusively on the Montagne de Reims in the villages of Ecueil, Bouzy, and Villers-Allerand, is dominated by Pinot Noir and complemented by Chardonnay, Meunier, and Petit Meslier. This allows Nicolas Maillart to produce intense, expressive cuvées with a characteristic touch of vinosity. Domaine Nicolas Maillart has been committed to environmental protection for many years and has been awarded the Haute Valeur Environnementale (High Environmental Value) and Viticulture Durable (Sustainable Viticulture) labels.
The Nicolas Maillart range begins with the Cuvée Platine Premier Cru, a very elegant champagne with fine bubbles and fruity aromas, and the Cuvée Rosé Grand Cru, a rosé de saignée with intense red fruit notes and great aromatic amplitude. It continues with single vineyard cuvées, some of which really stand out from the crowd. These include the Cuvée Jolivettes, made from a 60-acre plot planted with vines that are around 30 years old. This cuvée won over champagne specialist Richard Juhlin as soon as it was released in 2015.
