The House of Deutz was founded in Ay in 1838 by William Deutz and Pierre-Hubert Geldermann, two young and enterprising Prussian immigrants. Over the years, the House expanded through the acquisition of several Grand Cru and Premier Cru vineyards and by expanding its international presence. The reputation of Deutz Champagnes quickly spread beyond France’s borders. Today, Maison Deutz stands out for the remarkable quality of its cuvées; the “Deutz style” is appreciated worldwide for its elegance and finesse.

Deutz offers a range of champagnes with very fine bubbles, characterized by a beautiful vinous character due to the predominance of Pinot in the blends. The Brut Classic is characteristic of the Deutz style, with a fresh attack, followed by a palate dominated by fruit, and always that subtle vinous touch. The Brut Rosé is remarkable for its richness and finesse, while the vintage champagnes stand out for their complexity and aging potential. The William Deutz cuvée offers great richness supported by a velvety mouthfeel, while the Amour cuvée evolves into a rounder and more complex profile.

The Style and Excellence of Deutz Champagnes

Deutz champagnes captivate with their balance between aromatic finesse and vinous character. The Deutz style is built around a dominant Pinot Noir, which provides structure and depth, complemented by the freshness of Chardonnay and the roundness of Meunier. Each cuvée is distinguished by exceptionally elegant bubbles, the house’s hallmark.

Iconic Cuvées

  • Brut Classic: the truest expression of the Deutz style, with vibrant fruitiness and a lingering finish.
  • Brut Rosé: a luscious champagne with aromas of red berries and a silky texture.
  • William Deutz: a rare vintage cuvée, combining power and refinement.
  • Amour de Deutz: a symbol of elegance, this cuvée captivates with its roundness and aromatic richness.

Deutz Among the Great Champagne Houses

Like Deutz, other great houses embody the elegance of Champagne. The Laurent-Perrier House is particularly renowned for its Brut LP, its iconic Cuvée Rosé, and its Grand Siècle, considered one of the greatest blended champagnes. These houses share the same commitment: to reveal, vintage after vintage, the quintessence of the Champagne terroir.
