Description

The 2019 Montchenot cuvée produced by Nicolas Maillart is a pure, powerful, and expressive Pinot Noir.

The grapes for this cuvée come from three plots on the same east-facing hillside in Montchenot, a village that marks the boundary between two sub-regions: the Grande Montagne de Reims and the Petite Montagne de Reims. Here, the clay-limestone soils give the wine a certain richness.

2019 is very likely one of the finest vintages of recent years, with a perfect balance between tension and maturity.

The Pinot Noir grapes used for the Nicolas Maillart 2019 Montchenot cuvée are vinified entirely in oak barrels. This vinification process brings breadth and power to the wine.

Malolactic fermentation is blocked in order to maintain a beautiful balance. The wines are aged for 8 months on fine lees. This cuvée is unfined, unfiltered and very lightly dosed (1g/L).

Montchenot 2019 Nicolas Maillart is a delicious, expressive and fruity champagne. It is a cuvée that can be enjoyed as an aperitif, but above all with elegant dishes.
