The history of Maison Pommery began in 1858 when Madame Pommery took over the reins of the company upon her husband's death. Aware of the importance of grape quality in the production of her wines, she gradually expanded her vineyard, which would become one of the most beautiful in Champagne! Since 2014, the Pommery vineyard has held the dual labels "Viticulture Durable en Champagne" (Sustainable Viticulture in Champagne) and "Haute Valeur Environnementale" (High Environmental Value). Madame Pommery's feminine touch is still present in the House's blends, which combine purity and finesse.

The Pommery range is one of the richest and most comprehensive in Champagne. Brut Royal, which symbolizes the heart of Pommery's expertise, opens the range with its liveliness and freshness. Next comes Brut Apanage, a more mature and rounded cuvée. The POP Collection, meanwhile, breaks new ground. A resolutely trendy and provocative collection. The Pommery range is crowned by the Cuvée Louise, which embodies the best of the House's expertise. The prestige cuvée pays tribute to Madame Pommery.

Pommery champagne is renowned for its art of blending. The three grape varieties, Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier, and Chardonnay, are used in most of the cuvées. The wines are produced with formidable precision. In fact, at Pommery, they talk about wine before they talk about champagne. At the top of the range is the Louise cuvée, which is blended exclusively from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes grown in Grand Cru terroirs.

The art of blending

The cellar master is totally committed to his work. This is evident in the wide and precise range of wines, which includes every type of champagne: Blanc de Blancs, Blanc de Noirs, Rosé, Millésimé, and more. Tasting each one sheds light on a different facet of the Pommery style. The wine dimension is very present during the tasting, which retraces all the stages of production. The Apanage cuvée, which contains Pinot Meunier and is available in white and rosé, is even more emblematic of the house's expertise than the Brut Royale. Apanage is a cuvée of remarkable precision. The blending is masterful, and the wine's richness is balanced by the freshness of the Champagne terroir. When it comes to grape delivery, Pommery sources its grape varieties from all over Champagne, but naturally favors the Grand Cru terroirs. The POP cuvée is a little different with its round aromatics, a type of wine that is perfect for introducing people to the world of champagne. Finally, the vintage is a type of wine that reflects the unique style of a season in Champagne year after year.

At the estate, on Rue Henry Vasnier, opposite the Villa Demoiselle Vranken, the bottles are left to age for many years in the cellars of the house to round out their aromas and develop complexity.

A unique château in France

The Château Pommery is one of a kind. Madame Pommery asked her architects to take inspiration from the English style. This is how the neo-Gothic Elizabethan style came to Reims. With its turrets, battlements, and keeps, this château is absolutely unique in France. Its cellars are 18 kilometers long and connected to each other 30 meters underground. The artist Gustave Navlet sculpted huge bas-reliefs there. Discovering them is a truly enchanting experience. A monumental staircase with 116 steps connects these underground cellars to the outside world.
