Description

Powerful, precise, and elegant, Nicolas Maillart's Ronsures Pinot Noir Grand Cru 2020 champagne is a Blanc de Noirs crafted for lovers of terroir champagnes. Made from a plot located in the heart of the Bouzy Grand Cru, it reveals a bold personality that is fruity, taut, and salty. Vinified in barrels and without dosage, it embodies the estate's signature style: a straightforward wine that is true to its origins.

An exceptional terroir in the heart of Bouzy

The Les Ronsures vineyard is located on the lower slopes of the village of Bouzy, classified as Grand Cru, in the heart of the Côte des Noirs. This 0.8-hectare plot, planted with Pinot Noir from mass selection for over 30 years, rests on chalky Campanian soil. The soils are worked by plowing, using an environmentally friendly approach that combines organic and biodynamic principles with traditional practices when necessary.

Controlled aging to reveal the Pinot Noir

Harvested during the 2020 vintage, this cuvée is vinified entirely in oak barrels, with eight months of aging on lees. The wine is then bottled with cork and a zero dosage (0 g/l). Malolactic fermentation is not sought in order to preserve the wine's natural tension and expression of the terroir.

The 2020 vintage in Bouzy

2020 was a very good vintage in Champagne, marked by a warm spring and rapid ripening of the grapes. In Bouzy, this sunny year allowed the Pinot Noir to achieve an optimal balance between concentration and freshness. The chalky soils played their role as water regulators, ensuring beautiful aromatic precision in the juices.
