Champagne with ice cubes ! Have you ever thought of tasting the wine of your passion ? However, this new ritual is now possible with the latest creation from the Champagne house Moët & Chandon, with their Ice Imperial, the little brother of Brut Impérial Moët. Is it to shake up the purists ? Champagne looking for new palates ?

We know that the economy is doing badly, it is the "crisis". It is also clearly identifiable with the fluctuations of the champagne market and luxury products in general; or even with the market shares taken by drinks such as Cava (Cava is considered a kind of Spanish champagne). Prices are slashed, supermarkets are selling them, sub-brands appear, small, less expensive competitors are growing, in short the champagne market is shaken up. When it comes to champagnes, there is no shortage of ideas, as shown by certain initiatives to make people discover and sell (more or better, but sell). We note, for example, creations (with or without interest) such as the Luxor Brut drink made from champagne and gold.

Moët Ice Imperial champagne comes at the right time as summer approaches. On sale (for around € 35) from Friday June 18, 2010 (for Father's Day in Saint Tropez, prepare your ice cubes !), This champagne has been specially designed to be enjoyed with ice cubes.

Baptized under the name of Moët Ice Impérial, its particularity (you will have guessed it) is to comply with a service in full sun and in the afternoon (or in hot evening), to compete with other popular drinks. For its launch and as a sort of test phase, the bottle of Moët Ice Imperial will only be available from wine merchants in Saint-Tropez.

A champagne with ice ?

Its pearly white bottle reveals a luminous color in which the ice cubes (according to the press kits) let out a particular fruity intensity. This Moët Ice Imperial champagne is made from a triple blend of Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay grape varieties. Created with a holiday note in its bubbles, champagne lovers who like notes of tropical fruits (guava, mango), sweet liquorice-type spices, as well as red fruits will be happy.

This Moët Ice Imperial champagne would also have a fairly present freshness naturally, which allows it to be complemented, for example, by mint leaves or a citrus zest (lime, etc.). At worst, if you don't like tasting it just with ice cubes, this champagne will perhaps be ideal for making tasty champagne-based cocktails ?

While waiting for the champagne bucket market to be killed by the Ice Imperial, we can sleep soundly! I wondered if this champagne had not been designed for young palates and besides I asked my older daughter what she thought of putting ice cubes in the champagne. This is what she got out of me! " Yes ! But I prefer champagne with boys but not with ice cubes ! ".
