Maison Leclerc Briant was founded in 1872 by Lucien Leclerc. It moved to Epernay in 1955 and became Maison Leclerc-Briant under the leadership of Bertrand Leclerc, the founder's great-grandson, and his wife Jacqueline Briant. Today, it cultivates 14 hectares of certified organic and biodynamic vineyards, mainly located in the Grand Cru appellations of Mailly and Le Mesnil, and in the Premier Cru appellations of Hautvillers, Cumières, Bisseuil, Trépail, Rilly la Montagne, and Villers-Allerand. The house practices gentle, natural, and respectful winemaking. The wines benefit from low dosage, or even no dosage at all, allowing them to express themselves freely.
The Leclerc Briant range of cuvées is divided into three categories. The "Classiques" are blended naturally and reveal their personality without constraint, such as the Cuvée Brut Réserve, a marriage of Pinot Meunier, which brings fruitiness and roundness, Pinot Noir, which provides structure and vinosity, and Chardonnay, which adds a touch of freshness and honeyed notes; and the Cuvée Divine Extra Brut, a solera blend of the 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008 vintages. An impressive aromatic palette. The "Sélections Parcellaires" express the quintessence of their terroir and their year of origin. As for the "Specialties," they stand out for their original, emotion-filled worlds, such as the Cuvée Abyss, one of the most original cuvées in Champagne, immersed for a year in the seabed off the eastern coast of the island of Ouessant.
