The Blanc de Blancs 2018 is a champagne made exclusively from Chardonnay, the flagship grape variety of the Côte des Blancs. The 2018 vintage in Champagne was marked by exceptional weather conditions, making this a remarkable year for Chardonnays. After a rainy winter and a warm late spring, the summer of 2018 was distinguished by a prolonged period of heat and dryness, allowing the grapes to ripen in ideal conditions. The Chardonnays harvested in 2018 display great aromatic concentration, with notes of ripe fruit and preserved mineral freshness. Thanks to cool nights at the end of the ripening cycle, the grapes retained a beautiful acidity, essential to the balance and finesse of these wines. This vintage has thus produced Chardonnays with character, both generous and delicate, fully expressing the chalky terroir of Champagne.
The Chardonnay used for this cuvée comes from the terroirs of Trépail, Villers-Marmery, Billy le Grand, Bisseuil, and Vertus. The 2018 Blanc de Blancs Leclerc Briant was vinified and aged in vats for 85% and in barrels for the remaining 15%. It was bottled in June 2019 before spending four years in the cellars in Epernay. Disgorging took place from June 2023. The dosage of this cuvée is 1.9 g/l, making it an Extra Brut champagne, where sugar does not interfere with the pure expression of the terroir and grape variety. This low dosage allows the finesse and minerality of the Chardonnay to shine through.
The 2018 Blanc de Blancs Leclerc Briant has a very pale color with green highlights, accompanied by a subtle mousse and lively effervescence.
On the nose, this cuvée reveals delicate aromas of lemon, white flowers andlemon oil, offering remarkable freshness.
On the palate, the Blanc de Blancs 2018 is characterized by great delicacy and subtle salinity. The finish is marked by an elegant evanescence, leaving a sensation of purity and lightness.
