Few Champagne houses have achieved the undisputed reputation of Bollinger. Seriousness and consistency have been its greatest assets since the early 19th century, and the Special Cuvée is proof of this. With its lively, full-bodied style and beautiful freshness, it is the epitome of a "simple" non-vintage brut with great character and appeal. A success story that never fails to impress.
Bollinger's Special Cuvée is a blend of 60% Pinot Noir, the emblematic grape variety of the Bollinger house, 25% Chardonnay and 15% Meunier. The grapes are sourced mainly (85%) from Grands and Premiers Crus vineyards. This champagne showcases the black grape varieties and reveals the pure expression of the Champagne terroir. Made with reserve wines, some of which are aged in magnums for 7 to 15 years, this cuvée benefits from exceptional maturity.
The vinification process respects the requirements of long cellar aging. The dosage is moderate, with only 6 to 7 grams per liter, allowing the full complexity of this cuvée to shine through. The bottle of Special Cuvée Bollinger is presented in an elegant case, the perfect setting for this timeless champagne.
Special Cuvée Bollinger champagne has a beautiful pale golden yellow color with fine, generous bubbles.
The nose is distinguished by its aromatic complexity, with superb aromatic notes of apple, ripe apricot, citrus, followed by toasted bread, brioche, and hazelnut.
The palate is vinous, with the Chardonnay bringing finesse and freshness, and the Pinot Noir adding roundness and body. The fruitiness of the nose develops as the wine evolves.

The name "Special Cuvée" was coined in 1911 by Georges Bollinger's British agent. Finding the expression "Brut sans année" inappropriate for such a subtle champagne, he suggested an English name without accents. Today, more than a century later, Special Cuvée remains the emblem of Bollinger's expertise.

Denis Bunner consistently carries out malolactic fermentation in all of his tanks. This natural process transforms tart malic acid into mellow lactic acid, thereby highlighting the wine’s structure and the notes of forest floor imparted by aging in old barrels.
The estate practices sustainable viticulture certified under the High Environmental Value (HVE) program. The estate also holds the Sustainable Viticulture in Champagne (vDC) label. These certifications help ensure the reduction of chemical inputs on chalky soils.
The bottles of the final vintage undergo riddling, a process that gradually gathers the yeast sediment toward the capsule. The reserve magnums, on the other hand, are not placed on racking racks as a finished product: these older bottles are opened by hand to be incorporated into the final blend.
