After studying engineering and oenology, Rémi Leroy returned to the family’s 9-hectare estate in Meurville, in the Côte des Bar. This unique terroir in the Aube region, with its clay-limestone soils, gives the wines a distinctive character. Through the vineyard work that punctuates the year, Rémi’s goal is simple: to produce grapes that are ripe, healthy, and concentrated. Fermentation takes place in small stainless-steel tanks and oak barrels with as little intervention as possible. Rémi does not fining or filter these wines, and his winemaking style evolves alongside him as he gains new experiences and pursues his aspirations.
The Cuvée Extra-Brut is one of Maison Rémi Leroy’s flagship cuvées. This cuvée, composed of Pinot Noir (60%), one-third Chardonnay (35%), and a touch of Meunier (5%), originates from the Meurville terroir in the Côte des Bar, where the vines—now about twenty years old—are planted. The viticultural practices Rémi employs on this unique terroir yield fruit and juice with remarkable character. His Brut Nature version is based on the same blend, with two key differences: it undergoes a specific bottle-aging process and is aged for a longer period.
