      Description

      This Extra-Brut cuvée is one of Maison Rémi Leroy's flagship cuvées. With its unique soil, this bottle could only be just as exceptional!

      This champagne is made from the three Champagne grape varieties, with Pinot Noir still dominating (60%), a third Chardonnay (35%) and a touch of Meunier (5%). These grapes come from Meurville in the Côte des Bar, where the vines are around twenty years old and planted on clay-limestone soils.

      Most of the vineyard is located on hillsides, but the distinctive feature of the Meurville cru is its very poor soil with a thin layer of topsoil. On such poor soil, where the vines naturally struggle to grow, Rémi's viticultural practices produce fruit and juice with remarkable character.

      This cuvée is rich with ripe Pinot Noir grapes, aged on lees with stirring and 30% reserve wines in the blend. Low yields, reasonable amounts of organic matter in the soil and the perfect ripeness sought after give the Pinot Noir and Meunier grapes a higher concentration than normal.

      This cuvée has an amber color and undergoes no color removal techniques.

      The nose reveals spicy, fruity and brioche notes with a hint of pepper.

      On the palate, the attack is supple and the wine is round, full-bodied, structured and taut, with a beautiful finish.

      This Extra-Brut from Maison Rémi Leroy can be paired with foie gras and mango maki or chestnut and fig rice pudding.
