The 2004 vintage from the Légende collection reveals beautiful minerality and great finesse, with a much-appreciated hint of maturity.
Each year, Louise Brison sets aside a few bottles in the house's wine cellar. These bottles are stored in ideal conditions and offered for sale again after at least 10 years of aging. The bottles are recently disgorged to preserve their freshness.
The 2004 Légende cuvée is composed of equal parts Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The grapes come from the estate's vineyards, mainly located in the Noé-Les-Mallets terroir in the Aube region. This terroir is very different from that of the Marne. Here, it is closer to the Chablis terroirs, with clay-limestone soils that impart a generous and distinguished aromatic signature.
Vinified and aged in wood for around nine months on lees, this cuvée takes its time to develop its complexity. With no dosage, it is a powerful champagne with beautiful, mellow and delicious aromas, notes of spices and undergrowth, but also a still very present tension.
