Made exclusively from the 1999 harvest, this cuvée blends 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay. The aim of this cuvée is to combine the maturity of Pinot Noir with the tension of Chardonnay to express the balance of the 1999 vintage.
The grapes come from the Noé-les-Mallets hillside, located at an altitude of 320 meters and facing south/southeast. The Kimmeridgian clay-limestone soils give the wine a chalky tension and elegance typical of the Côte des Bar. This exposure promotes slow and regular ripening, ideal for balanced vintages such as 1999.
The wine is vinified and aged in oak barrels, with partial malolactic fermentation to preserve its natural freshness. The cuvée is a Brut Nature (0 g/L), respecting the purity of the vintage and the philosophy of transparency of the Louise Brison house.
The year 1999 began with unstable weather before benefiting from a particularly sunny August. The grapes reached full maturity with still pronounced acidity, producing balanced and expressive wines. This rich and harmonious vintage is now distinguished by its complexity and intact energy after more than two decades of rest.
Deep golden with amber highlights. Fine effervescence, a sign of controlled maturity and long rest on slats.
Complex and rich, dominated by notes of candied fruit, orange peel, and hazelnut. A touch of honey and wet chalk adds depth and freshness.
Full-bodied and vinous, supported by beautiful acidity. Silky texture, combining the richness of Pinot Noir and the tension of Chardonnay. Balanced, long and salty finish, typical of great wines for aging.
The maturity of the vintage and the vinous texture call for refined dishes with clean flavors. Perfect with noble dishes and delicate meats.
Store the 1999 Mémoires de la Côte des Bar vintage at a stable temperature of 64–68°F in a dark, slightly humid cellar. Already matured by time, it will continue to develop aromas of dried fruit, wax, and mocha. You can keep it for another 4 to 6 years for more tertiary nuances.
Optimal window: 2025–2030. Today, the wine expresses remarkable fullness. It will gain even more complexity with time, developing notes of white truffle and toasted hazelnut while retaining its mineral tension.
We recommend serving Mémoires de la Côte des Bar 1999 at 10–11°C in a thin or slightly tapered tulip glass. This temperature brings out its aromatic richness and saline structure. A short aeration in the glass will open up the notes of dried fruit and sweet spices.
