The Heritage cuvée from Laurent-Perrier Champagne is an unprecedented oenological feat, born from the visionary expertise of the House. Composed exclusively of reserve wines, this champagne transcends the vintage to offer the pure expression of perfect maturity. The blend gives pride of place to Chardonnay (55%), the House's emblematic grape variety, complemented by 45% Pinot Noir. The unique character of this cuvée lies in its composition: unlike a classic non-vintage brut, which incorporates a base harvest, Héritage is made exclusively from reserve wines. These wines come from more than 40 different Crus, 50% of which are classified as Grands Crus, guaranteeing a noble origin and a structure suitable for aging.
Laurent-Perrier selects its grapes from the best terroirs in Champagne to build its collection of reserve wines. The high proportion of Grands Crus in the blend ensures the minerality and aromatic complexity that form the backbone of this wine. These exceptional terroirs allow the wine to retain its vibrant freshness even after several years of aging.
This cuvée is the result of expert management of the reserve wines, the true treasure of the House. Each wine used in the blend has been selected for its potential for evolution and its elegance. Once blended, the wine is aged in the cellar for a minimum of four years. This period of rest on lees is essential to blend the complexity of the different vintages and obtain a silky texture while preserving remarkable liveliness.
The color is a luminous white gold. The effervescence is fine and persistent, reflecting long aging in the cellar.
The complex and evolving nose opens with fresh notes of lemon, white peach, and fruit in syrup. With aeration, it reveals a more indulgent dimension with aromas of toasted bread and roasted almonds.
The attack on the palate is clean and fresh. The palate reveals a lively and elegant texture, marked by flavors of white fruit and citrus zest. There is a perfect balance between the maturity of the reserve wines and the freshness, ending with delicate notes of flower honey.
As this cuvée is delivered in a clear bottle, it requires special care. Glass allows UV rays to pass through, which can alter the wine (light taste) in just a few hours. It must be stored in total darkness, lying down, in a cool cellar (40-54°F) and away from vibrations.
Composed of already mature reserve wines and aged for four years in the cellar, the Héritage cuvée is ready to drink. However, its complex structure allows it to be stored in the cellar for a further three to five years. It will then develop more honeyed and spicy notes, accentuating its "toasted" character.
Serve this champagne at a temperature between 10 and 12°C. A temperature that is too low would mask the aromatic richness of the reserve wines. The use of a large white wine glass is recommended to allow the complex bouquet (almonds, fruit in syrup) to fully express itself.
The Héritage cuvée can be considered the technical "little sister" of the famous Grand Siècle. It is based on the same blending philosophy: recreating the perfect year that nature does not always provide. Where Grand Siècle blends three exceptional years, Héritage takes the concept further by using a multitude of reserve vintages to achieve "accessible complexity" and unfailing consistency.
