He revolutionized the world of champagne by breaking with convention, seeking to create the very essence of Champagne each year, defying the vagaries of the weather. By honoring the uniqueness of each terroir and building an extensive library of reserve wines, Joseph Krug gave birth to the first Champagne House dedicated exclusively to prestige cuvées.
This is how La Grande Cuvée was born, which, over the course of its editions (we are now in the 171st edition), challenges itself to offer the best champagne by blending several harvest years. Much later, but with the same philosophy, Krug Rosé was born, a cuvée that also strives for perfection. Finally, in contrast to this approach of blending vintages, the House of Krug highlights the best years through its Vintages, such as Vintage 2002 and Vintage 2008, as well as its famous Clos du Mesnil and Clos d'Ambonnay.
