      Description

The 2006 Clos d'Ambonnay from Krug Champagne is an exceptional cuvée, the ultimate expression of Pinot Noir from Champagne. Produced in extremely limited quantities, this champagne is made from a single 0.68-hectare plot located in the Grand Cru village of Ambonnay, renowned for the exceptional quality of its terroir and grapes.

The production of Krug's Clos d'Ambonnay 2006 champagne

The 2006 Clos d'Ambonnay cuvée is made exclusively from Pinot Noir grapes harvested from a tiny enclosed plot in the heart of Ambonnay. This Grand Cru village is known for its chalky, clay-limestone soils, which provide ideal conditions for the grapes to ripen perfectly.

The harvest, which took place on September 21, 2006, produced grapes of exceptional concentration. The wines were then aged for over 15 years in Krug's cellars, developing extraordinary aromatic complexity and finesse. Like all Krug champagnes, this cuvée has undergone no fining or filtration, thus preserving its authenticity and unique character.

Clos d'Ambonnay 2006 is presented in numbered bottles, a guarantee of exclusivity. Only 4,514 bottles were produced for this exceptional vintage.

      The 2006 vintage

The year 2006 was marked by contrasting weather conditions, alternating between heat waves and heavy rainfall in August. These climatic conditions produced rich, balanced grapes, reminiscent of the generosity of the 2002 and 1989 vintages. Thanks to the return of the sun in September, the harvest yielded grapes of exceptional quality, with optimal ripeness and beautiful freshness.
