The making of Krug Vintage 2011
At Krug, each vintage is a unique work of art, selecting the most expressive wines of a given year to tell its story. Krug Vintage 2011 illustrates a paradoxical climate, marked by inverted seasons and extreme conditions.
This champagne is a blend of:
- 46% Pinot Noir – Provides beautiful structure and refined balance.
- 37% Chardonnay – Offers generosity and a juicy texture, a result of the year's heat waves.
- 17% Meunier – Preserves freshness and brings elegant bitterness.
This cuvée was nicknamed "Rondeur ciselée" (chiseled roundness) by the Krug Tasting Committee because of its dual personality: an enveloping and generous texture, counterbalanced by a lively, salty finish. Aged for over ten years on lees, this champagne reveals remarkable aromatic depth and striking elegance.
