After a very wet winter, the mild, dry spring favored harmonious flowering. The cool, wet summer slowed the vegetative cycle, giving cause for concern. Fortunately, September brought sunshine and warmth, allowing the grapes to ripen nicely. The harvest took place in perfect conditions, offering healthy, well-balanced grapes. The 2014 vintage stands out for its harmony, aromatic richness and ageing potential.
A refined blend of Pinot Noir (67%) from the terroirs of Aÿ, Bouzy and Verzenay, Chardonnay (28%) from Avize, Mesnil, Chouilly and Villers-Marmery, and Pinot Meunier (5%) from the Chamery terroir. Each grape variety was carefully vinified to express the typicity of its terroir. The wine is then aged for a long time on lees to develop complexity, finesse and depth.
Bright, brilliant gold, with a fine, even effervescence.
Sunny and very expressive, blending ripe yellow fruit (peach, apricot, mango), pastry notes (mirabelle plum tart), acacia honey, hints of blond tobacco, spices and candied ginger.
Clean, straightforward attack. Velvety texture, perfect balance between acidity and roundness. Yellow fruit aromas are confirmed, and the gourmet finish stretches to notes ofcandied citrus and chocolate.
Presented in an elegant wooden box, William Deutz 2014 is available at 149,95 €. An ideal cuvée to offer as a gift or to enrich a collector's cellar.
Enthusiasts and professionals alike praise its aromatic generosity and remarkable balance. Many appreciate its ability to accompany great gourmet dishes while retaining great drinkability. See reviews on William Deutz 2014.
