I have known Isabelle and Xavier Thevenet for a long time, I was immediately won over by their work. They make remarkable cuvées with a balance between fruit and freshness. But they are also explorers, the Insolite range (Insolite Chardonnay, Insolite Meunier, Insolite Rosé) is the best proof of this. These are champagnes made with the best grapes from the estate, but also the best of the house's know-how. I tasted the Insolite Meunier cuvée a few days ago, without special occasion, just for the pleasure of sharing an excellent champagne and pairing it with a 36-month-old Comté. The fruit of the Insolite Meunier Thevenet-Delouvin, combined with the texture and expressiveness of an old Comté, was remarkable. The unusual range is undoubtedly one of the best price / pleasure ratios in the region !

Recently invited to a starred restaurant with a very nice wine list, a natural question arises which champagne to choose? My choice fell on the cuvée Dis, Vin Secret from the Françoise Bedel estate. A pure wonder of balance, all in elegance, with a fruity nose underlined by a very beautiful energy ! It is a yearless Brut at the level of a great vintage: fullness in the mouth without heaviness and respect for the fruit. Atypical, it turns out to be a gastronomic champagne with natural acidity and a magnificent aromatic palette that will go wonderfully with poultry with a light sauce. We fell in love with the cuvée Dis, Vin Secret by Françoise Bedel !

Last month I was invited by Maison Lanson to visit its facilities in Reims. The opportunity to discover a superb place, brilliantly renovated a few years ago, but also, and above all, to taste part of the range. This is the Extra Age range that was offered to me, a range that the house wants to put more emphasis on now and I understand why. The Extra Age cuvées (Brut, Blanc de Blancs and Rosé) are blends of relatively old vintages (2004, 2005 and 2006) which bring a unique richness and aromatic depth. These vintages are complementary and give that complexity that I have rarely found in other champagnes. The Extra Age Rosé cuvée particularly struck me with its delicacy, its very expressive fruit, while retaining the freshness, signature of the Champagne Lanson style.
