Founded in 1785, the Piper-Heidsieck House has always embodied the art of blending and the excellence of the Champagne style. Under the leadership of cellar master Emilien Boutillat, the Blanc de Noirs Essentiel cuvée is produced with rare precision and a sustainable vision. This champagne combines the two historic black grape varieties of Champagne:
The Blanc de Noirs Essentiel Piper-Heidsieck cuvée is made from 18 crus located on the Montagne de Reims, the Vallée de la Marne and the Côte des Bar, all certified Viticulture Durable en Champagne (VDC). This multi-terroir anchoring brings richness and complexity. The blend also includes 28% reserve wines, which guarantee continuity and aromatic depth.
The plots in the Montagne de Reims bring power and structure thanks to the Pinot Noir grape. The Vallée de la Marne, renowned for its expressive Meunier grapes, offers fruit and roundness. Finally, the Côte des Bar, a more southern terroir, adds a generous and aromatic dimension. This Champagne blend produces a complete and elegant wine that reveals the quintessence of the black grape varieties.
The grapes are pressed slowly and carefully, followed by static clarification of the juices to ensure aromatic purity. Alcoholic fermentation takes place entirely in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats, preserving the precision and freshness of the fruity aromas. Malolactic fermentation is 85% complete, bringing suppleness and roundness while maintaining a nice tension. The wine is aged for a minimum of 36 months on its lees, which enriches its texture and refines its effervescence. After disgorging, it is left to rest for at least another 6 months. The dosage is adjusted to Extra-Brut (5 g/L) to express the balance between fruit and freshness.
The Blanc de Noirs Essentiel has a deep golden color with bright highlights. Its fine, regular effervescence reflects its long aging in the cellar. Presented in a bottle with a case, it captivates from the first glance with its refined brilliance.
The nose opens with delicious red fruits: raspberry and blueberry, enhanced by notes of clementine and apricot. With aeration, delicate nuances of almond and honey appear, reinforcing the aromatic complexity.
On the palate, the attack is precise, bright and crisp. Fresh fruit dominates, supported by a touch of minerality on the finish. Citrus notes bring liveliness, while pastry nuances lend beautiful fullness. The long, chiseled finish illustrates the purity of its Extra-Brut style.
Blanc de Noirs Essentiel is best stored in a cool, dark place at a stable temperature of 10 to 12°C. The bottle should be laid down to allow the cork to remain moist and airtight. Protect it from vibrations and light, even though the bottle in its case already offers additional protection against UV rays.
This non-vintage champagne has an aging potential of 5 to 7 years after purchase, provided it is stored in the right conditions. Over time, it will develop aromas of dried fruit, honey, and brioche, while retaining a fine, consistent effervescence.
Serve this Blanc de Noirs Essentiel at a temperature of 9 to 11°C in tulip glasses to bring out its aromatic bouquet. It does not need to be decanted, but it benefits from being served a few minutes after opening to allow its full aromatic richness to develop.
In 2022, Piper-Heidsieck obtained the prestigious B Corp certification, proof of its long-standing commitment to sustainability and responsibility. It is also certified High Environmental Value and Sustainable Viticulture in Champagne. The Blanc de Noirs Essentiel embodies this philosophy: a champagne that combines indulgence, precision, and respect for the terroir. Presented in a bottle with a case, this cuvée is designed to be an experience in its own right, both sensory and ethical.
