Description

Palmer & Co's Réserve is the House's signature champagne, a cuvée of great precision that embodies a timeless style.

Harmoniously balanced by the freshness and richness of the great terroirs of the Montagne de Reims, this wine is distinguished by a rare maturity. Thanks to rigorous selection and time-honored expertise, La Réserve offers an elegant and complex expression of the Palmer identity.

The Making of La Réserve

A true technical challenge, this cuvée is based on a complex blend and a significant proportion of reserve wines, which give it exceptional consistency and depth.

A Work of Time and Precision

  • Blend: Predominantly Chardonnay (50–55%), complemented by Pinot Noir (30–35%) and Meunier (20–25%). The blend includes a significant proportion of Premier and Grand Cru wines from the Montagne de Reims. Most of the vineyards are certified under the Viticulture Durable en Champagne (VDC) and Haute Valeur Environnementale (HVE) programs.
  • Reserve Wines: 30 to 35% of reserve wines are included in the blend to ensure the signature character and maturity of the style.
  • Aging on lees: A prolonged rest of 3 to 4 years in bottle (and 5 to 6 years in magnum) in the dim light of the House’s cellars.
  • Dosage: 6–7 g/L, a “Brut” dosage that highlights the balance between freshness and smoothness.

The character of La Réserve

More than just a non-vintage Brut, La Réserve is the expression of the Palmer & Co. style at its peak. Under the watchful eye of Xavier Berdin, the Cellar Master, the grapes—sourced primarily from the terroirs of the Montagne de Reims—are vinified with extreme care to preserve their vitality. The generous use of reserve wines creates a bridge between the liveliness of the young harvests and the complexity of older vintages, resulting in a champagne of supreme balance.

Tasting notes

  • Appearance

The color is a sparkling pale gold, enlivened by a fine effervescence that forms a persistent cordon.

  • Nose

The bouquet captivates with its complexity and freshness. It opens with aromas of citrus, pear, and apricot, followed by subtle notes of hazelnuts and fresh pastries.

  • Palate

On the palate, the balance is perfect. The attack is fresh, leading to a full-bodied and elegant texture. The finish is persistent, marked by a remarkable harmony between fruit and maturity.

Storage and Serving Tips

Aging Potential

Thanks to its blend rich in reserve wines and its long aging in the cellar, La Réserve is ready to drink but also has a bright future ahead:

  • Now: The champagne is at its peak of fruity vibrancy and elegant freshness.
  • 2 to 3 years: The texture becomes creamier and the pastry notes intensify.
  • Beyond: Evolves toward more complex nuances of dried fruit and honey.

This vintage is highly acclaimed for its consistency and elegance. Tasters often highlight its exemplary balance between the freshness of the Chardonnay and the structure of the Pinot Noirs. Read the detailed reviews in the Palmer La Réserve reviews section.

This wine benefits from exceptional aging— 3 to 4 years in the bottle and up to 6 years in a magnum—allowing it to reach optimal maturity.

The blend features Chardonnay as the main component (50–55%), complemented by Pinot Noir (30–35%) and Meunier (20–25%).

La Réserve contains between 30% and 35% reserve wines, which give it its aromatic depth and consistent style.

La Réserve is distinguished by its use of a significant proportion of reserve wines (30 to 35%) and extended aging on the lees for 3 to 4 years, resulting in exceptional aromatic complexity and consistency.

It is recommended to store the bottle on its side, away from light, in a place with a constant temperature (ideally between 10 and 12°C). Thanks to its reserve wines, it can age for another 2 to 3 years to develop more brioche-like notes.
