The creation of Moët & Chandon Brut Impérial champagne

Created in 1869, Brut Impérial reflects the Moët & Chandon style: a unique expression of freshness, generosity, and elegance. Its blend is based on a meticulous selection of more than 200 crus from the most prestigious terroirs in Champagne.

A powerful and balanced blend

Brut Impérial is distinguished by a harmonious blend of the three iconic grape varieties of Champagne:

• Pinot Noir (30-40%): it provides structure and intensity, with grapes from the Montagne de Reims andthe Aube, where they develop a beautiful aromatic depth.
• Pinot Meunier (30-40%): it brings a silky roundness and a beautiful fullness on the palate. It comes from the sunny slopes of the Marne Valley.
• Chardonnay (20-30%): it infuses the wine with incomparable freshness and minerality, sourced from the grands crus of the Côte des Blancs.

Precise vinification and ideal aging

Each grape variety is vinified separately in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats, preserving their purity and aromatic intensity. This process guarantees vibrant freshness and remarkable finesse.

The addition of 20 to 30% reserve wines enriches the blend, giving Brut Impérial extra complexity and perfect consistency from vintage to vintage.

Finally, the cuvée is aged for 24 months on lees in Moët & Chandon's historic cellars, where it develops a silky texture and an intense aromatic palette. A precise dosage of 9 g/L balances the wine's liveliness and generosity.
