The Drappier house has brought together two bottles of their famous Carte d'Or cuvée in this gift box. These are two very different versions, as the first was aged in the house's Cistercian cellars, while the second was immersed in the sea for two years.
On October 4, 2020, Drappier submerged 3,495 bottles at a depth of 31 meters in Lannion Bay, in the Côtes d'Armor region of France.
At a temperature and in darkness identical to those of the cellar, but at a depth that compresses the gases, the submerged bottles are rocked by the tides.
During the summer of 2022, 1,368 bottles of Carte d'Or were brought back to the surface!
The Carte d'Or cuvée from Drappier is a fruity, slightly vinous and fresh champagne. It is ideal for cocktails or as an aperitif.
The blend is based mainly on Pinot Noir (80%), which provides structure and fruity aromas, complemented by Pinot Meunier (5%), which adds a touch of suppleness, and Chardonnay (15%) for freshness and elegance.
This champagne has a golden color with copper highlights.
Its nose is very elegant, with notes of stone fruits such as white peach from the vineyards. After a few moments, it evolves towards more indulgent aromas of pastries.
A spicy note heralds a powerful and complex palate. This vinous champagne is highly complex with a characteristic touch of quince jelly.
This Carte d'Or cuvée from Maison Drappier is ideal as an aperitif but will also find its place at the table alongside white meat, firm fish or Chaource cheese.
