Ruinart's 2016 vintage is an exceptional champagne that combines the elegance of Chardonnay, the structure of Pinot Noir, and the roundness of Meunier. With its innovative Seconde Peau case, this bottle is perfect for celebrating special occasions.
Ruinart's 2016 vintage champagne is a blend of 48% Chardonnay, 32% Pinot Noir, and 20% Meunier. These grape varieties are mainly sourced from the Grands Crus and Premiers Crus of the Côte des Blancs and Montagne de Reims, two iconic terroirs in Champagne. The grapes are harvested by hand to ensure rigorous selection, guaranteeing optimal quality for this cuvée.
The 2016 vintage was characterized by contrasting weather conditions: a cool, rainy spring followed by a hot, dry summer. These climatic variations produced wines with great expressiveness and beautiful aromatic concentration. Vinification in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats preserves the freshness and fruity aromas of the grape varieties, while malolactic fermentation softens the natural acidity, resulting in a creamier profile. After more than six years of aging on slats, this cuvée develops complex and refined notes, perfectly balanced by a dosage of 5g/L.
On the eye, the 2016 Ruinart vintage is distinguished by its bright golden color with subtle copper highlights, a sign of its extended aging and aromatic richness.
On the nose, this cuvée offers an initial impression of fleshy yellow fruits (peach, apricot, etc.), followed by more exotic notes. With aeration, aromas of biscuits, cereals, and dried fruits develop, complemented by a mineral and saline touch that adds depth and complexity.
On the palate, the 2016 Ruinart champagne is both full-bodied and lively. Ripe fruit flavors mingle with zesty notes. The finish, marked by a lemony freshness, is typical of Chardonnays from the Côte des Blancs, offering a refreshing and elegant sensation.
