Ruinart's Millésime 2011 is a champagne full of freshness, evoking light floral notes. It's a lacy champagne, ideal as an aperitif.
2011 is an atypical year for Champagne. It got off to a fast start with an exceptionally hot, dry spring. Summer was more mixed, with cool temperatures and heavy rainfall. The harvest finally began at the end of August.
The 2011 Ruinart vintage is a blend of 51% Chardonnay and 49% Pinot Noir, from the Grands Crus and Premiers Crus of the Côte des Blancs and Montagne de Reims. Vinified and aged in stainless steel tanks to preserve all the wine's tension and finesse, this cuvée is then blended into Extra Brut (5.5g/l).
This cuvée is pale gold in color, with green highlights and fine, very lively bubbles.
The first nose reveals springtime notes of lime blossom, green tea and infused verbena. On the second nose, after a few minutes in the glass, more generous fruit aromas emerge (papaya, white peach, pear...). Mineral notes complete this fresh aromatic bouquet.
On the palate, Millésime 2011 Ruinart is airy, fresh and slightly tense. Notes of white fruit and spices appear on the palate. Subtle hints of wet chalk and white truffle round out the finish.
This elegant, light champagne is perfect as an aperitif or with iodized foods (crab, scallops, etc.).
