The Philipponnat Perpetual Reserve Non Dosé champagne magnum is an invitation to discover the absolute purity of the Philipponnat style. Aged without dosage and enriched with a unique perpetual blend, it intensely expresses the freshness of citrus fruits and the delicacy of white flowers. Presented here in a magnum with a case, it is ideal for festive occasions as well as refined meals where authenticity and elegance are a must.
The philosophy behind this cuvée is based on the art of perpetual reserve, a unique cycle in Champagne that combines freshness and the collective memory of vintages. Each bottle is an expression of eternal youth, achieved through respectful winemaking and the total absence of dosage (0 g/l).
The Réserve Perpétuelle Non Dosée cuvée is made from:
The grapes come mainly from Grands and Premiers Crus in Mareuil-sur-Aÿ and its surroundings. In this part of the Marne Valley, the limestone and chalky soils promote minerality and liveliness.
Philipponnat favors traditional vinification, combining vats and oak barrels to preserve complexity and authenticity. Part of the 2021 harvest (26.8%) did not undergo malolactic fermentation, ensuring tension and freshness. Aging in cool cellars at 12°C lasts a minimum of three years, guaranteeing harmonious development. With no added sugar, this Brut Nature champagne reflects crystalline purity and absolute sincerity.
This cuvée is a perpetual blend that combines wines from the 2021 harvest with previous vintages, stored in barrels and casks. Each sip reflects the living memory of every harvest since 1946, enriched over time by an endless cycle. This practice gives the champagne a unique complexity, where freshness and depth complement each other perfectly.
The magnum of the Réserve Perpétuelle Non Dosée cuvée reveals a bright pale gold color. The effervescence is distinguished by fine bubbles and a persistent mousse.
The nose opens with delicate notes of white flowers, with hints of lime blossom, vine blossom, and hawthorn. A mineral touch underscores this aromatic freshness.
On the palate, the attack is straightforward and vibrant, marked by citrus flavors. The texture is taut but not aggressive. The finish is long and clear, with nuances of fresh apple and warm bread.
The magnum should be stored in a cellar at 10-12°C, in the dark, lying down and protected from vibrations. The ideal humidity is 70%, which preserves the seal of the cork and the finesse of the bubbles.
Magnums have a longer aging potential than standard bottles. The cuvée can be enjoyed between 6 and 18 months after disgorging, but it will gain complexity and depth if left to age for up to 7 to 8 years. The large format promotes slow and harmonious development.
Serve the magnum at 8°C in large tulip glasses or white wine glasses to bring out its aromatic richness. Decanting is not necessary. The case protects the bottle from light and makes it an elegant presentation for special occasions.
A magnum of champagne contains 1.5 liters, the equivalent of two bottles. This size is ideal for convivial meals and large gatherings. Thanks to its larger volume, it ages more slowly and harmoniously than a standard bottle, allowing the aromas to gain in complexity. Serving a magnum is also more spectacular, enhancing the festive and prestigious dimension of the tasting. Finally, the presentation case adds an elegant touch and effectively protects the wine from light.
