The Extra Brut Premier Cru Rosé from Lombard is a champagne that reveals notes of red berries carried by a beautiful tension.
This cuvée is made from a blend of Chardonnays from the Côte des Blancs (Grauves, Vertus) and Pinot Noirs from the Montagne de Reims (Sermiers) and the Vallée de la Marne (Cumières). These are Premier Cru terroirs, among the finest in Champagne.
The wines are aged in stainless steel vats to preserve their freshness and crisp fruitiness. The 10% red wine that completes the blend is vinified in oak barrels. It comes from the Grand Cru terroir of Verzenay on the Montagne de Reims.
The cellar master has chosen to block malolactic fermentation for 40% of the wines in order to give the wine tension and energy. Lombard's Extra Brut Premier Cru Rosé is then aged for two to three years in the cellars of the house in Épernay. Its dosage is very light (4g/l) to allow the wine's tension to express itself fully.
This is a perfectly balanced cuvée, offering both great finesse and beautiful aromatic expression.
