The Rosé Robe Métal Ruban cuvée from Laurent-Perrier is a champagne crafted exclusively from four Grands Crus of the Montagne de Reims and the Vallée de la Marne. This precise selection delivers a dense texture and remarkable aromatic consistency.
This is a cuvée built around vivid red fruit, lifted by a hint of floral character and a touch of spice. Wine-like and round, it keeps a crisp freshness that gives it all its sparkle.
This is a bottle you can pour from the aperitif onwards, alongside cheese gougères for example, before carrying it through to the table with a roast duck breast.
The Terroir
The Rosé Robe Métal Ruban cuvée is a Blanc de Noirs, meaning it is crafted entirely from Pinot Noir.
The Pinot Noir comes from the terroirs of Ambonnay, Bouzy and Louvois, all classified Grand Cru and found on the Grande Montagne de Reims, as well as from Tours-sur-Marne, also Grand Cru, but situated on the Grande Vallée de la Marne, where Laurent-Perrier tends its vines.
This gathering of four Grand Cru villages gives the Pinot Noir a setting rarely found in Champagne: the Montagne de Reims lends it the precision and freshness typical of the region's most celebrated slopes, while the Vallée de la Marne brings a more generous ripeness to the grapes.
On this terroir, the Pinot Noir gives the wine its structure and aromatic depth.
Winemaking
Olivier Vigneron, Laurent-Perrier's cellar master, chose to vinify this Pinot Noir entirely in stainless steel tanks, a decision that preserves the freshness of the fruit without introducing any oaky notes. This neutral vessel allows the grape to express itself fully, without interference.
The dosage, in the Brut category, strikes a precise balance between fruity freshness and a touch of roundness, never masking the purity of the Pinot Noir. It's this calibration that gives the wine its clean, taut character, with fine bubbles that carry the palate with real lightness.
At Laurent-Perrier, this stainless-steel approach reveals fresh red fruit aromas, with no imprint of oak ageing. The result is a champagne where the vivacity of the Pinot Noir remains the defining signature, from first nose to finish.
A Non-Vintage Cuvée
Blending several harvests lies at the heart of this cuvée's style. Each year brings its own character, sometimes generous, sometimes more taut: by adding reserve wines, the House smooths out these variations and recreates, year after year, the same signature taste. This method delivers a champagne that stays true to itself, rather than being at the mercy of a single vintage's quirks. It's this consistency that sets a non-vintage cuvée apart from a vintage wine: it doesn't tell the story of one particular growing season, but rather the regularity of a craft honed and repeated season after season, in the service of an always-recognisable balance.
