Mythic is an exceptional cuvée from Jacques Chaput that embodies the quest for purity and authenticity. Made exclusively from Chardonnay grapes grown in the clay-limestone soil of the Kimmeridgian terroir, this Brut Nature with no dosage is a rare, complex, and expressive champagne, perfectly suited for lovers of straightforward, intense champagnes.
The Le Mythic cuvée is from the 2010 harvest, bottled in 2011, then aged for 13 years on slats in the cellars of Maison Jacques Chaput. This extended maturation period reveals the richness and depth of the Chardonnay, while preserving its mineral freshness. No liqueur is added during disgorging (dosage 0 g/L), which enhances the precision and elegance of the wine as a whole.
With this cuvée, Maison Chaput asserts its strong signature: a racy, sincere champagne with a deliberately raw style. Its name, Le Mythic, and the salamander emblem borrowed from François I, reflect this desire to nurture "the good fire" and extinguish "the bad," both in the vineyard and in the cellar.
The color of Le Mythic is a bright, light yellow with subtle green highlights.
The nose is refined and expressive, with notes ofcitrus, brioche, andtoasted almonds.
On the palate, the wine offers a creamy mousse and very fine bubbles. The structure is balanced and persistent, with a clean, elegant finish.
The price of a bottle of Le Mythic Jacques Chaput Champagne is 39,95 €. This Blanc de Blancs Brut Nature, aged for a long time on slats, will appeal to lovers of unique and assertive champagnes.
Connoisseurs praise the precision and integrity of this cuvée, as well as its aromatic complexity. Many applaud the bold choice of zero dosage and long aging. Read reviews of Le Mythic.
Le Mythic champagne can be enjoyed now or kept for another 2 to 3 years to further refine its patina. Serve between 7 and 10°C in a tulip glass to reveal all its nuances.
Tasting
By Patrick BorrasMythic is a champagne with a strong personality. It has a golden yellow color with straw yellow highlights. It is clear, dotted with fine, delicate bubbles.
On the nose, this is a very floral wine, developing aromas of white flowers, garrigue, fresh verbena, and lily of the valley. A very pleasant nose thanks to its aromatic freshness, complemented by citrus (lemon) aromas.
On the palate, the attack is pleasant, with good balance, finesse, and lots of freshness. The palate reveals prominent citrus notes of striking purity, counterbalanced by very pleasant round and smooth notes.
This champagne is perfect as an aperitif, but also accompanies any meal. I recommend serving it at a temperature of 8/9°C. The Mythic by Jacques Chaput is one of my favorite cuvées!
