Dom Pérignon Vintage 2015 – Murakami Edition celebrates the encounter between winemaking and contemporary art. For this limited edition, the House has teamed up with Takashi Murakami, a leading figure in Japanese art, to revisit one of its most eagerly awaited vintages. Presented in a collector's box adorned with the artist's multicolored, smiling flowers, this champagne embodies the fusion of two visions: that of nature sublimated by time and that of a vibrant, poetic, and timeless imagination.
The 2015 vintage in Champagne was marked by a hot, sunny summer, interspersed with a few rainy spells in August that allowed the grapes to achieve a perfect balance between ripeness and tension. The harvest, which began at the end of August, yielded Chardonnays of great purity and concentrated Pinot Noirs with a full and energetic structure. It is from this exceptional raw material that Dom Pérignon has composed a balanced, luminous and vibrant wine, imbued with a deep aromatic complexity.
Each Dom Pérignon cuvée is the result of meticulous work, with each plot vinified separately before blending. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats to preserve the aromatic purity of the wines. Aging on fine lees lasts for nearly 10 years in the cellar, allowing for a slow evolution towards harmony and depth. This long maturation process gives the champagne its silky texture and unique aromatic resonance. Disgorging is carried out just before shipping, guaranteeing absolute freshness.
Presented in an exclusive box designed by Takashi Murakami, Dom Pérignon Vintage 2015 becomes a true work of art. The label is adorned with the Japanese artist's iconic multicolored smiling flowers, a symbol of joy and eternity. This collector's box reflects the philosophy shared by the House and Murakami: transcending time and transforming every moment into lasting emotion. Both a tribute and a manifesto, it appeals to champagne lovers and contemporary art collectors alike.
The color is a luminous gold with light amber highlights, enlivened by an extremely fine effervescence. Its brilliance evokes the solar energy of the vintage and the precision of the work in the cellar.
The nose is immediately complex and enveloping. It opens with notes of roasted cocoa, lime blossom, and jasmine, mingled with peony and a hintof oriental spices such as anise and cardamom. With aeration, more fruity nuances appear, reminiscent of white peach and nectarine, supported by a subtle smoky touch.
On the palate, the wine unfolds with a silky fullness and firm structure. The attack, both generous and precise, reveals flavorsof candied orange, green papaya, and ripe citrus. The mid-palate expresses a fleshy texture, balanced by a chalky tension and noble bitterness. The long, mouthwatering finish leaves an impression of gentian, spices, and zest— the signature of a great Dom Pérignon vintage.
Store the bottle in its original box, away from light and temperature fluctuations, ideally between 40 and 50°F. The box protects the wine from external influences while preserving its aromatic purity and the finesse of its bubbles.
Dom Pérignon Vintage 2015 – Murakami Edition promises to age beautifully. Today, it expresses a perfect harmony between fruity intensity and mineral precision. Over 15 to 20 years, it will develop nuances of honey, toasted hazelnut, and blond tobacco, while retaining its energetic and saline structure.
Serve between 10 and 12°C in a fine tulip glass. Avoid decanting to preserve the tension and aromatic precision. Aeration for a few minutes in the glass will reveal the complexity of the bouquet.
