      Description

Dom Pérignon Vintage 2013 in magnum expresses the essence of the vintage with a rare balance between crisp freshness and aromatic depth. This champagne embodies the house's absolute philosophy: to sublimate the duality between tension and complexity. The large format slows down the wine's evolution and magnifies its silky texture and saline energy.

2013 was a late and cool vintage, marked by a contrasting summer that offered slow and balanced ripening. Dom Pérignon delivers a vertical, crystalline interpretation with an almost mineral precision.

The making of Dom Pérignon Vintage 2013

Each Dom Pérignon vintage is born from a choice: to produce only when nature reaches perfection according to the house's vision. The 2013 Vintage combines Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from the finest Grands Crus of the Montagne de Reims, the Côte des Blancs, and Hautvillers.

      • Pinot Noir brings density, structure, and fullness.
      • Chardonnay brings brightness, precision, and saline energy.

      The terroir

The grapes come exclusively from the Grands Crus of Mailly, Verzenay, Bouzy, Avize, and Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, as well as the Premier Cruof Hautvillers, the historic birthplace of Dom Pierre Pérignon. These predominantly chalky terroirs impart a chiseled minerality and vibrant tension. The 2013 vintage, with its fresh and late profile, has enhanced the aromatic purity and verticality of these legendary hillsides.

      Vinification

The musts are carefully selected to preserve the acid-mineral balance. Vinification entirely in stainless steel vats preserves the purity of the fruit and its freshness. Aging on lees for over 10 years in the cellar ensures harmony between aromatic richness and mineral tension.

      The 2013 vintage

A year marked by a cold, wet spring, followed by a bright, consistent summer. The late, cool harvest allowed for slow, complete ripening. On the chalky soils of Avize and Mailly, the Chardonnay gained in purity while the Pinot Noir refined without losing its density. This vintage delivers a champagne with vibrant tension and saline depth, striking energy and austere elegance in its youth.

      Tasting notes

      • Color

Bright pale gold with silvery highlights. Very fine effervescence, slow and regular bubbles.

      • Nose

Initial nose of white flowers, fresh citrus, and flint. After aeration, notes of almond, mint, candied zest, and stone fruit appear. Vertical ensemble with striking purity.

      • Palate

A slender, taut attack. Dense, silky texture. The mid-palate reveals a perfect balance between lemony tension, chalky salinity, and smoky depth. A persistent, straightforward, mouthwatering finish marked by continuous mineral energy.

      Food pairing

This tense, salty vintage calls for subtle pairings with iodine-rich foods and delicate textures. The precision of the Chardonnay and the depth of the Pinot Noir pair beautifully with pure, expressive dishes.

      Storage and serving

      Storing this magnum

Store the magnum horizontally in a stable cellar at 10–11°C, away from light and vibrations. Humidity should be around 70%. This large format promotes slow maturation, ideal for revealing the mineral depth of the vintage. After transport, allow the wine to rest for 48 to 72 hours before opening so that it regains its full aromatic potential.

      Ageing potential

Optimal window: 2025–2050. Between 2025 and 2030, the wine will express its crystalline tension and lemony freshness. From 2031 to 2040, notes of hazelnut, brioche, and warm stone will appear, enriched by the patina of the magnum. From 2041 onwards, the profile will evolve towards light honey, dried fruit, and a noble salinity reminiscent of wet chalk. This vintage has the potential to be a very long-aging Dom Pérignon.

      Serving

Serve at 9–10°C in tulip glasses with a wide base and slightly narrowed rim. Open 15 minutes before tasting to allow the wine to open up without decanting. Keep in an ice bucket (2/3 water, 1/3 ice) to stabilize the temperature. Pour slowly to preserve the foam and gently aerate the dense substance of the magnum.

Yes. The large format promotes a slower exchange between wine and oxygen, developing a finer texture and greater aromatic complexity over time.

Yes, slightly. The dosage is 5 g/L (Brut), adjusted to preserve the tension and natural balance of the vintage.

Between 9 and 10°C. A colder temperature would freeze the aromas; a warmer temperature would diminish the wine's precision.
