      Description

Without doubt the most famous champagne in the world. When Pierre Pérignon, the spiritual father of champagne, took up his functions at the Benedictine Abbey of Hautvillers in 1668 his acknowledged aim was to make “the best wine in the world”.

Over 350 years later the house of Dom Pérignon continues with his vision, that of luxury and the permanent reinvention of the exceptional. It was this spirit that inspired Richard Geoffroy, Dom Pérignon’s cellar master, when he created the most recent Vintage Dom Pérignon.

In his own words: «grapes are never the same from one year to the next. If the harvest doesn’t correspond to Dom Pérignon’s criteria one year, then there will be no vintage that year. This isn’t a value judgement, it’s an aesthetic appreciation ».

2003 was characterized by a very hard winter during which the vines greatly suffered, followed by a scorchingly hot summer. In September the harvest took place in sunny conditions; yields were low, but concentration was exceptional.

This extraordinary Dom Pérignon Vintage 2003 is distinguished and sophisticated, at perfect maturity.

Resplendent in its luminous golden robe it offers a supremely refined effervescence.

The nose is a symphony of floral aromas, with candied fruits, dried fruits, then darker, spicier notes developing after airing.

The palate is compellingly persistent, vibrant, precise with an underlying refined bitterness and touch of tangy salinity.

      A very, very grand champagne.
