With this cuvée Monts de Vertus 2016, the Fourny brothers wanted to clarify the origin of their lieux-dits. These mid-slope plots on outcropping chalk give this wine a pure, mineral, saline style.
This vintage Champagne is made exclusively from old Chardonnay vines, planted over 50 years ago in Vertus, a Premier Cru commune in the Côté des Blancs, renowned for its grapes of great purity.
The 2016 vintage was characterized by a particularly pronounced climatic swing: a cool, wet spring, a dry, hot summer marked by a heatwave at the end of August, and a dry, sunny harvest that ensured the grapes ripened beautifully.
This 2016 vintage is vinified in vats, with very little sulfur, and aged for 7 months on lees. This Extra-Brut Champagne is dosed at 3 g/L, to preserve the freshness and minerality of the terroir.
A champagne with excellent ageing potential.
