La Grande Dame 2008 is the cuvée symbolizing the quest for perfection of the house Veuve Clicquot and its cellar master Dominique Demarville.
This cuvée was created in 1962 and marketed for the first time in 1972 to celebrate the bicentenary of the house.
The 2008 vintage is considered in Champagne as one of the finest of recent decades. It is a vintage that evokes extraordinary vintages such as 1995, 1985 and 1979.
La Grande Dame 2008 Veuve Clicquot is a blend of 6 of the Maison's 8 historic Grands Crus: Aÿ, Ambonnay, Bouzy, Verzy, Verzenay for Pinot Noir and Le-Mesnil-sur-Oger for Chardonnay.
The very dominant Pinot Noir (92%) brings power. This is the first time that this proportion of Pinot Noir has been so high in the blend of La Grande Dame.
La Grande Dame 2008 wears a bright, golden dress.
On the nose, it is a champagne that begins with airy and delicate notes. Once opened, the wine presents notes of dried fruits (almonds, figs, apricots), ripe white fruits (pears) and finally, subtle toasted notes of hazelnut and praline. Thus, these pastry notes create a perfect balance with the freshness and precision of the blend.
On the palate, after a strong and clear attack, we discover a wine with a silky texture. We discover notes of red fruits and citrus fruits. It is a mouth extraordinarily in its freshness, its minerality and its power. La Grande Dame 2008 reveals a perfect balance of complexity, structure and power.
La Grande Dame 2008 Veuve Clicquot will go perfectly with haute cuisine or seafood dishes.
