Champagne Veuve Clicquot La Grande Dame 2018 – Jacquemus Edition is a unique creation, the result of a collaboration between two iconic French houses: Veuve Clicquot and Simon Porte Jacquemus. This collaboration pays tribute to Madame Clicquot's visionary audacity, while expressing the modernity and poetry of the fashion designer. Presented in a gift box, this prestigious cuvée stands out for its sleek design, its embroidered white linen packaging, and, of course, its exceptional aromatic balance.
La Grande Dame 2018 embodies a new interpretation of L'Art du Pinot Noir: a sunny and precise champagne, vibrant with energy and freshness. The Jacquemus-designed box highlights the artistic and tactile dimension of this edition, transforming the tasting into a true sensory experience.
A collaboration between audacity and elegance
For this special edition, Veuve Clicquot commissioned Simon Porte Jacquemus to create a unique design. The designer imagined a bottle draped in white linen, embroidered with yellow calligraphy, a nod to an ancient Italian method used to cool bottles: a damp cloth wrapped around the bottle to preserve its freshness on summer days. The Marais canvas box, adorned with a ribbon alternating the House logo and Jacquemus' handwritten signature, extends this aesthetic between minimalism and sensuality. A yellow label with irregular edges recalls the famous Yellow Card, Veuve Clicquot's emblem since 1877.
The creation of La Grande Dame 2018
Blending
- Pinot Noir (90%) brings structure, fruity energy, and aromatic depth, true to Madame Clicquot's vision: "Our black grapes produce the finest white wines."
- Chardonnay (10%) lends elegance, floral tension, and a salty precision that balances the whole.
The work of the House's Cellar Master perpetuates this quest for balance between power and finesse, translating La Grande Dame's oenological signature into each cuvée: elegance, precision, and harmony.
2018 Vintage
2018 was a bright and generous vintage in Champagne. After a mild winter and a long, dry summer, the grapes reached remarkable maturity, offering juices of exceptional purity. This abundance of sunshine, tempered by the natural freshness of Pinot Noir, resulted in a wine of masterful balance. La Grande Dame 2018 stands out for its fine tension and perfectly controlled intensity, illustrating the meeting of strength and delicacy.
