The 2017 TC vintage produced by Jean-Pierre Vazart is unique in that it is vinified and aged in ovoid terracotta vats (hence the name TC).
This is a Blanc de Blancs champagne, made from Chardonnays from the Grand Cru terroir of Chouilly. They are vinified in ovoid terracotta vats, which provide both micro-oxygenation of the wine and resuspension of the lees. This resuspension of the lees adds richness and generosity to the wine, while the micro-oxygenation promotes the development of aromas.
The 2017 Vazart-Coquart cuvée was bottled with cork, again with the aim of bringing out the wine's beautiful expressiveness.
Each bottle is then disgorged by hand and dosed with Extra Brut (1.5 grams per liter).
This champagne has a straw-gold color with delicate bubbles.
The first nose reveals notes of ripe yellow fruit (peach, apricot). After a few minutes in the glass, the aromas expand, revealing notes of gingerbread. It has a broad and generous nose. After a few more minutes, hints of fine chalk and candied yellow zest finally emerge.
On the palate, this cuvée has a fine, precise texture. The mineral notes are clearly present, followed by aromas of yellow and tropical fruits. The ripeness is perfectly controlled, as the hint of acidity seems intact. The finish is decisive and ultra-mouthwatering, leaving a delicious impression of a soil that is both rich and fresh, with beautiful bitter notes.
