This vintage rosé is the result of a rigorous selection of plots and precise expertise. True to the Vazart-Coquart style, the vinification seeks to preserve the fruit and aromatic purity while revealing the generous structure characteristic of the 2020 vintage.
The 2020 cuvée combines two complementary grape varieties:
A small percentage of Pinot Noir red wine is added to obtain the rosé color and accentuate the fruity character, in the tradition of Champagne rosé blends.
The Pinot Noir grapes come from the Marne Valley, where the clay-limestone soils enhance the power and richness of the fruit. The Chardonnays, meanwhile, come from plots located on chalky soils, giving the wine a vibrant minerality and balancing tension. This marriage of terroirs defines the identity of the Spécial Club Rosé 2020: a rosé that is both expressive and refined.
Vinification takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats, ensuring aromatic precision. Malolactic fermentation is partially blocked to preserve natural freshness. The wine is then aged for over 36 months on fine lees to bring complexity and volume on the palate. The dosage is measured to respect the balance of the vintage and highlight the purity of the blend.
The year 2020 was marked by warm, sunny weather, resulting in very ripe grapes. The Pinot Noirs are distinguished by an intense fruity expression, dominated by ripe red and black fruits. The Chardonnays, richer than in cooler years, bring a floral touch and subtle minerality. This vintage, delicious and immediate, reveals a generous roundness and a slightly shorter aging potential than more tense years such as 2018.
The color of the Spécial Club Rosé 2020 is a pale salmon hue with luminous highlights. The fine, regular effervescence highlights the delicacy of the wine.
The nose opens with bright red fruits (wild strawberry, raspberry, redcurrant), joined by notes of blood peach andcandied citrus. Floral touches (rose, peony) complete this expressive bouquet.
The attack is full-bodied and silky. The palate develops a generous texture dominated by juicy red fruit. The finish is fresh, punctuated by a chalky minerality and a slight hint of spice, ensuring complexity.
Store this cuvée in a dark, cool cellar at 10-12°C and 70% humidity. Store it horizontally so that the cork remains airtight and preserves the finesse of the bubbles.
The rich and sunny 2020 vintage can be enjoyed now for its vibrant fruitiness. Between 2025 and 2027, the champagne will gain complexity, developing notes of dried fruit and a touch of brioche. By 2030, it will express more spicy and slightly honeyed nuances, with a creamier effervescence. Its optimal aging period is between 6 and 10 years after disgorging.
Serve Spécial Club Rosé 2020 between 9 and 11°C in a tulip glass. This shape allows you to enjoy both its fruity expression and its mineral freshness. Decanting is unnecessary: this champagne blossoms fully as soon as it is opened.
Spécial Club Rosé is one of Vazart-Coquart's most iconic cuvées. Only the best years and the finest grapes are selected for this exclusive club. Each bottle is recognizable by its specific bottle design.
