The 2015 Spécial Club from Maison Vazart-Coquart is a full-bodied, indulgent Blanc de Blancs champagne, designed for special occasions. The Spécial Club is the house's prestige cuvée and is only produced in the best years.
The year 2015 was an extraordinary harvest, but also saw the Champagne region recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site! Thanks to a cool end to the summer, the berries ripened to produce juicy, ripe, and concentrated grapes.
All of the Chardonnays in this cuvée come from two plots, "Le Mont Aigu" and "La Cerisière," with 45-year-old vines located in the Grand Cru commune of Chouilly in the Côté des Blancs. This plot is planted on very chalky subsoil, which gives the grapes the great freshness characteristic of this terroir.
This cuvée is vinified and aged in stainless steel vats to preserve all its freshness and extreme finesse. Malolactic fermentation is carried out to bring out a beautiful roundness. The wine is then aged in the cellar with a cork stopper to add complexity. The wine is Extra-Brut at 3 g/L. This cuvée is disgorged manually, using a technique known as "à la volée."
This champagne reveals a golden yellow color and fine, lively bubbles. On the nose, this cuvée awakens the senses with delicious aromas of honey and ripe fruit. The palate is round and elegant, revealing great intensity with notes of pastry and dried fruit.
This 2015 Spécial Club cuvée from Maison Vazart-Coquart is best enjoyed on special occasions and pairs beautifully with a wild mushroom risotto, an oriental tabbouleh, or a mountain cheese.
