The MA 17 cuvée is a perfectly balanced blend of 51% Pinot Noir and 49% Chardonnay, sourced from the Grands Crus ofAmbonnay and Mesnil-sur-Oger. The vines, which are 20 years old on average, enjoy a south-eastern exposure and grow on varied soils: flint and chalk for Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, clay-limestone for Ambonnay. These characteristics give the cuvée a unique richness and complexity.
The name of this cuvée, MA, comes from the two terroirs present in this cuvée: Mesnil-sur-Oger and Ambonnay.
Vinification and aging took place in stainless steel vats. 19% of reserve wines enrich the blend to add extra complexity. 11% of red wine from Ambonnay is added to the blend to give it its pink hue, as well as red fruit aromas. The cuvée is then aged for 36 months on slats. The dosage (6g/L) is adjusted to preserve the freshness and purity of the aromas.
The MA 17 cuvée is not from a single vintage, but is based on 81% of the 2017 harvest. In 2017, the harvest in Mesnil-sur-Oger was marked by complex weather conditions, alternating between frost and heat waves, but producing Chardonnay grapes of great purity and beautiful acidity. In Ambonnay, the Pinot Noir grapes showed optimal ripeness thanks to a sunny end to the season, revealing rich and structured profiles.
A clear, bright salmon pink color, enlivened by fine, abundant bubbles.
Aromas of red berries, such as raspberry and strawberry, accompanied by citrus notes such as grapefruit.
A silky and delicate texture, offering a slightly salty finish with good length on the palate.
