      Description

The 2017 Rosé Vintage from Louis Roederer is a remarkable blend of rosé wines, combining maturity and saline tension. Produced using a gentle "infusion" method with Pinot Noir grapes and enriched with Chardonnay, it delivers a juicy, vibrant, and chalky expression.

Presented in a bottle, this 2017 vintage reflects the richness of a complex vintage and the house's precision: silky texture, lively fruit, and a salty finish. A gastronomic rosé, ready to enjoy now or keep for later.

The production of Louis Roederer's 2017 Vintage Rosé Champagne

The cuvée is based on the house's specific technique: slow skin maceration of Pinot Noir grapes, followed by the addition of Chardonnay juice, in order to preserve the energy of the grapes while maintaining their salty freshness.

      • Pinot Noir brings structure, energy, and red fruit.
      • Chardonnay brings freshness, brightness, and purity.

      The terroir

The selected grapes come mainly from the communes of Cumières (Marne river) and Chouilly (Côte des Blancs). The limestone soil and exposure promote optimal ripeness for Pinot Noir and finesse for Chardonnay.

      Vinification

Approximately 29% of the wines were vinified in oak barrels, and 24% underwent malolactic fermentation. The dosage is set at 8 g/l. Harvest: August 31 to September 9, 2017.

      The 2017 vintage

2017 proved to be a challenging year: a frosty spring, an unpredictable summer, but a successful harvest in the best areas. The resulting wine is rich in ripe fruit while retaining a marked freshness and fine salinity.

      Tasting notes

      • Color

Light salmon pink with coppery highlights. Fine, regular effervescence. The disc reflects the precision and elegance of the wine.

      • Nose

Aromas of wild raspberry, McIntosh apple, pink grapefruit zest, wet chalk, and rose tea. Pure overall, evoking red fruits and minerality.

      • Palate

Straightforward and silky attack. Full-bodied but taut texture. Ripe fruit combines with chalky salinity. Long finish, evoking ginger, red berries, and flint.

      Pairing suggestions

This rosé expresses lively fruit and refined salinity, ideal for delicate seafood, juicy poultry, and Japanese- or contemporary French-inspired cuisine. Its silky texture and chalky notes call for precise cooking, clean seasonings, and light sauces that respect the wine's balance.

      Storage and serving

      Storing this vintage

Store the bottle between 10 and 12°C, in the dark, at ~70% humidity, lying down to preserve the cork. Avoid vibrations and temperature variations.

      Ageing potential

Optimal window: 2024–2034. From 2024 to 2027, enjoy the crisp red fruit, chalky tension, and lively bubbles. Between 2028 and 2031, the texture becomes creamier with nuances of fine brioche, white hazelnut, and candied citrus. From 2032 to 2034, the profile evolves towards dried fruit, a touch of gunflint, and a depth of iodine, while retaining a structuring freshness.

      Serving

Serve at around 9°C in a tulip glass. Do not decant. Open a few minutes before serving to allow the foam and aromas to develop.
