This superb box contains a bottle of Louis Roederer Cristal 2008 and two tasting flutes.
Cuvée Cristal from Champagne house Louis Roederer is one of the world's most renowned champagnes. It is a cuvée made only during the greatest vintages, and 2008 is, in the opinion of the specialists, without doubt the greatest of the last 15 years.
The 2008 vintage was dry but cool, enabling the vines to produce grapes of exceptional density and great aromatic expressivity. This 2008 vintage is also distinguished by its great freshness.
Cuvée Cristal 2008 is a blend of Grands Crus from Montagne de Reims, Vallée de la Marne and Côte des Blancs. Pinot Noir dominates the blend (60%), complemented by Chardonnay (40%).
It was patiently aged for 10 years in the Roederer cellars before revealing its brilliance and purity.
On the nose, Cristal 2008 Roederer reveals intense notes of candied citrus, which after a few moments give way to generous notes of pear and almond. Finally, there's an elegant hint of roasting.
On the palate, Cristal 2008 asserts itself fully, with a splendid, powerful attack, while retaining the terroir's signature chalky touch. The mouthfeel is unique, silky, almost suave. Supported by a beautiful tension, the palate is pure, full, and stretches for long seconds with a saline touch as a focal point.
Cristal 2008 is one of Louis Roederer's greatest masterpieces.
