Louis Roederer's Magnum Collection 245 (in a gift box) is an ode to hedonism and haute cuisine. This 245th blend from the House marks a new stage in the quest for excellence: it draws on the superb 2020 harvest to offer a wine of remarkable density and complexity. Presented here in Magnum format (1.5L), the ideal bottle for storage, this multi-vintage champagne combines freshness with the patina of wines aged in wood. A great wine of substance and freshness, made to age.
Collection 245 is composed of 41% Chardonnay, 35% Pinot Noir, and 24% Meunier. True to its roots, Louis Roederer selects its grapes fairly from the three historic areas: "La Rivière," "La Montagne," and "La Côte." The unique identity of this cuvée is based on a complex blend of three temporal layers:
Malolactic fermentation is partial (22%) in order to maintain a vibrant tension. The wine has benefited from nearly four years of aging in the House's cellars, a prolonged maturation that is perfectly suited to the Magnum format. The dosage is precise, at 7 g/L, to allow the purity of the fruit to express itself.
The heart of this 245th blend beats to the rhythm of the year 2020. A dry, continental year, offering perfect ripeness. It delivered juicy, structured grapes, allowing the creation of dense, fleshy wines that retain an optimal balance between substance and freshness.
The color is brilliant, a deep gold with shimmering highlights. The effervescence is fine and dynamic, typical of Roederer's expertise.
The nose is of rare intensity. It releases pure, concentrated aromas of ripe yellow fruit and citrus, nuanced by a slightly smoky and toasted touch from the reserve wines aged in wood.
On the palate, the wine is generous and flavorful. It has impressive fruit density and a fleshy texture, supported by the saline freshness of the Réserve Perpétuelle. It is a "complete" wine, complex and full-bodied.
The Magnum (1.5L) is considered the ideal size for storing champagne. The ratio between the volume of wine and the oxygen in the neck is lower, which slows down the wine's evolution and allows it to develop greater complexity.
Already bursting with youth and fruit, this Magnum Collection 245 has a structure that is perfect for aging. You can enjoy it today for its liveliness, or leave it to age in the cellar for 5 to 10 years, or even longer. It will develop toasted and honeyed notes over time.
Serve this great gastronomic wine between 10°C and 12°C. Use large white wine glasses to allow the complex bouquet (yellow fruits, smoky notes) to fully develop.
With "Collection," Louis Roederer abandoned the classic "Brut Premier" (non-vintage Brut) to create a numbered multi-vintage wine. The number 245 corresponds to the 245th blend produced since the House was founded in 1776. This approach allows the personality of each base vintage (here 2020) to shine through, while guaranteeing the House style thanks to the reserve wines.

It is composed of 55% from the 2020 harvest, 35% from the Perpetual Reserve (2012-2019) and 10% from reserve wines aged in wood (2010-2019).
The dosage is 7 g/L, a perfect balance to support the wine's body without weighing it down.
In addition to its festive and generous appearance (equivalent to two bottles), the Magnum offers better preservation and more harmonious aging of the wine.
