This edition expresses the philosophy of the Collection range: each number is a unique chapter, resolutely Roederer. The box set ensures the best possible tasting conditions thanks to two flutes designed for the wine's fine, regular effervescence.
Collection 245 blends three parts of the House's historic vineyard in equal proportions: La Rivière (Marne Valley), La Montagne (Montagne de Reims) and La Côte (Côte des Blancs). The heart of the blend is based on the 2020 harvest (55%), complemented by the Réserve Perpétuelle (35%; 2012–2019) for freshness and reserve wines aged in wood (10%; 2010, 2013, 2015, 2017–2019) for depth. Partial malolactic fermentation at 22% softens the texture without diminishing the tension. The dosage is adjusted to 7 g/l.
The chalky slopes of the Montagne de Reims form the saline backbone. The Marne Valley brings roundness and Meunier fruit. The Côte des Blancs delivers the integrity of Chardonnays. This mosaic of plots, cultivated using sustainable methods, produces a clear and vibrant wine, faithful to the Roederer style.
The Réserve Perpétuelle, initiated in 2012, enriches the blend with layers of freshness and complexity. The reserve wines aged in wood reinforce the texture and toasted nuances. The malolactic fermentation (22%) polishes the acidity. The dosage of 7 g/l balances the maturity of 2020 and maintains the chalky character.
The year 2020 followed a sunny pattern: a mild, wet winter, a dry summer with hot spells, then an early harvest from August 22 to September 11. Despite the heat, the wines remain well-balanced. They are ripe and straightforward, with pronounced fruit and a marked chalky tension. Collection 245 retains its juicy flesh and precise aromatic purity.
Beautiful champagne color, golden yellow. Regular and dynamic effervescence. Clear brilliance that promises a full-bodied and lively wine.
Yellow fruits (nectarine), ripe and concentrated citrus fruits. Sweet nuances of pollen and sugared almonds. A subtle smoky undertone from the oak aging. Pure, intense and precise overall.
Velvety, caressing, juicy. Delicately salty bubbles, enveloped in a concentrated texture. Balance between substance and crisp, powdery, salty limestone freshness. Long, chiseled finish with slightly woody and smoky accents.
Store the Collection 245 + 2 flutes box set in a cool, dark place. Remove the bottle from the box set for cellaring: temperature 10–12°C, humidity ~70%, bottle stored horizontally. Avoid vibrations and rapid temperature changes.
Optimal window: 2024–2030. The wine gains in volume and complexity (brioche notes, dried fruit) while retaining its saline tension. The 75 cl format evolves faster than a magnum, but retains a beautiful reserve of energy.
Chill to 9°C. Open 10 minutes before serving. Serve in the two flutes provided in the box to enhance the bubbles and chalky texture. Pour gently to preserve the foam and aromatic precision.
