The Collection 245 vintage from the renowned house of Louis Roederer is a delicate and refined champagne. Its citrus notes, freshness, and minerality make it a perfect champagne for the aperitif.
This Collection 245 Louis Roederer vintage bears this name because it designates the 245th blend of the House. To further enhance the quality of the House's blends and to bring more transparency to the blends, Louis Roederer has embarked on a new approach with the creation of this Collection range.
Crafted from grapes sourced equally from the vineyards of "La Rivière", "La Montagne", and "La Côte", Collection is composed of a base vintage, reserve wines aged in wood, and wine from the "perpetual reserve" which follows the principles of the solera and was started in 2012. Each edition of Collection is thus unique yet always representative of the identity and know-how of Roederer. This Collection champagne is the worthy successor to Louis Roederer's Brut Premier.
In 2020, the hot and sunny climate of August and September, combined with cool nights as the harvest approached, allowed the vine to experience exceptional ripening dynamics, offering a beautiful balance between acidity, sugar levels, and aromatic concentration.
The Collection 245 vintage, offered here in a half-bottle, is composed of 41% Chardonnay, 35% Pinot Noir, and 24% Meunier. This vintage is crafted with 55% of the 2020 harvest (of which 10% is vinified in wood), 10% of reserve wines aged in wood, and 35% of perpetual reserve. This subtle blend ensures perfect harmony, highlighted by the delicacy of the half-bottle. Malolactic fermentation is partially carried out at 22% and the wine is dosed as Brut at 7 g/L.
The Collection 245 is distinguished by a beautiful golden yellow color, typical of great champagnes, with regular and dynamic effervescence.
The nose reveals a bouquet of nectarine and lemon, accompanied by sweet notes of petals reminiscent of almonds and harvest.
The palate is velvety, supple, ample, and juicy. The texture is concentrated and broad with a refined balance between matter and crisp, chalky freshness, powdery and saline, which gives a magnificent sensation of freshness. The long and chiseled finish is marked by smoky and slightly woody notes.
The price of the half-bottle of Louis Roederer's Collection 245 vintage is 34,95 €. An extremely competitive price for a champagne of this quality, offering an excellent price-quality ratio. Compared to other prestige vintages, this vintage is truly affordable for such gustatory precision.
The reviews of the half-bottle of Louis Roederer's Collection 245 vintage are unanimous: champagne enthusiasts praise its aromatic complexity and perfect balance. Customers particularly appreciate its fruity notes and silky texture. Many also highlight the affordable nature of this vintage compared to its exceptional quality, making this half-bottle a privileged choice for many occasions.
To fully enjoy the half-bottle of Collection 245, it is advisable to store it in a cool place, away from light and vibrations. This champagne has an interesting aging potential, but it is nonetheless less significant in a half-bottle than in a bottle or magnum. This vintage can of course be tasted now to enjoy its freshness and vivacity.
The Louis Roederer style is synonymous with precision and creativity. Each vintage is conceived as a work of art, with particular attention to detail. Under the direction of the talented cellar master Jean-Baptiste Lécaillon, the House of Roederer perpetuates a tradition of excellence while constantly innovating. This Collection 245 in a half-bottle perfectly embodies this bold and tradition-respecting approach.
