The Brut Réserve from Pol Roger is presented here in a Methuselah bottle (equivalent to eight bottles, or 6 liters). This cuvée is made from around thirty different wines, each from different vintages.
Its blend evolves each year to maintain the authenticity of the Pol Roger style from harvest to harvest. However, each year, approximately one third of each of the three main grape varieties of Champagne are used: Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier.
After clarification at 8°C, a technique unique to Pol Roger, the wines ferment in separate cuvées according to their origin in order to preserve the primary aromas of the wine. This cuvée is aged for at least three years in the cellars of Pol Roger in Epernay.
Pol Roger's Brut Réserve is a straw-yellow champagne with abundant, fine effervescence.
Its nose is powerful and inviting, revealing initial aromas of pear and mango, followed by scents of honeysuckle and white jasmine, and finishing with notes of vanilla.
On the palate, Pol Roger's Brut Réserve offers a frank and dynamic attack, followed by beautiful harmony and pleasant freshness. Flavors of cooked fruit (quince jelly, apricot jam, etc.) blend with fragrances of beeswax and acacia honey. With fruity notes (candied orange peel, mandarin, etc.) and spicy notes (cardamom, green anise, etc.), the aromatic persistence is remarkable.
