The cuvée Sir Winston Churchill from the Pol Roger champagne house was created as a tribute to the famous British statesman, with references to the qualities he appreciated in champagne: robustness, structure and maturity. Sir Winston Churchill used to say: "My tastes are simple, I am easily satisfied with the best". The cuvée that bears his name would not have disappointed him.
Made exclusively from Grand Cru Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes, this cuvée is only produced in the best vintages.
Cuvée Sir Winston Churchill 2000 by Pol Roger boasts an intense yellow-gold color, studded with numerous fine bubbles.
On the nose, Cuvée Churchill 2000 reveals finesse and elegance. The nose evolves with toasty, fruity notes of yellow-fleshed fruit (mirabelle plum, plum, fresh quince, apricot), pulpy white stone fruit (white peach) and delicate floral touches reminiscent of vine flower and lime blossom.
On the palate, Cuvée Sir Winston Churchill 2000 has a fine balance between roundness, power and fatness. The attack is lively, with a persistent, straightforward style.
On the palate, we discover fruity and spicy (cinnamon) aromas, as well as hints of gunflint, an aromatic marker of the terroir of origin and vintage.
The long, slightly lemony finish is the hallmark of a superb wine.
