Gimonnet's Spécial Club Oger Grand Cru 2012 is a showcase for the Côte des Blancs' flagship terroir, Oger, in a great year.
The Cuvée Spécial Club showcases the very best of Gimonnet's expertise, but in the best years, Didier and Olivier Gimonnet create special editions of the Spécial Club. This is the case here, with a cuvée made exclusively from the Grand Cru terroir of Oger.
It's a Blanc de Blancs champagne made from Terres de Noël and Brulis (54% of the blend, heart of the terroir), Champ Nérons (23% of the blend, Oger on chalk), Fondy (23% of the blend, Oger clay-limestone). These parcels cover a total area of 1 hectare. Only 3,027 were produced.
The 2012 vintage is considered a very great vintage, on a par with the 2008 vintage.
The Spécial Club Oger Grand Cru 2012 Gimonnet is vinified in stainless-steel vats to retain maximum freshness. The dosage is extra brut (4.5g/l), highlighting the liveliness and minerality of this cuvée.
Le Spécial Club Oger Grand Cru 2012 is a floral, lemony cuvée evocative of citrus fruit. The palate is lively, taut and very mineral.
