Olivier and Didier Gimonnet's Cuvée Fleuron 2008 showcases the very best of the estate's vintages. By selecting the best of the year's production, the Gimonnet brothers obtain a cuvée that offers unique harmony and balance.
So, for this 2008 vintage, one of the best in Champagne over the last 20 years, the blend is based on 34% Chardonnays from the Grand Cru terroir of Cramant, which brings roundness, and 32% Chardonnays from Chouilly, another Grand Cru terroir, which brings fruitiness and elegance. Then there's 10% from Oger Grand Cru, for the spicy touch, 22% from the Premier Cru terroir of Cuis for freshness, and finally a touch of Vertus (Premier Cru) to give a little more substance.
Cuvée Fleuron 2008 is vinified in stainless steel to preserve its purity. Malolactic fermentation was carried out to give the wine a little more suppleness. Finally, the dosage is Extra Brut, around 4.5g/l, to underline the wine's freshness.
Cuvée Fleuron 2008 has a brilliant gold color. Its bubbles are fine and lively.
On the nose, this champagne evokes citrus fruit and white flowers. After a few seconds in the glass, warmer notes of brioche, viennoiserie and spices emerge.
On the palate, Fleuron 2008 has a lovely, lively, clean attack. The palate is full, with fruity aromas. The finish is taut, fresh, and vibrates for long seconds.
49,712 bottles and 1,791 magnums of this cuvée were produced.
