A refined champagne, both structured and elegant, embodying the heritage and expertise of Philipponnat. Royale Réserve is an iconic cuvée, marked by the vinosity of Pinot Noir and the perfect balance between freshness and complexity.
Royale Réserve Brut is a faithful reflection of the terroir and Philipponnat style. The blend is based on a dominant Pinot Noir (65%), complemented by 30% Chardonnay and 5% Meunier. Only first-press grapes are used, mainly from Grands and Premiers Crus in the heart of Champagne.
A distinctive feature of this cuvée is that 20 to 30% of reserve wines are added, managed using the solera method and aged in wood. This technique adds complexity to the wine while preserving its freshness.
Vinification follows a traditional approach, avoiding any premature oxidation. Malolactic fermentation is partial and the reserve wines are aged in barrels, promoting the development of more complex aromas. The Brut dosage is moderate at 8 g/L, ensuring perfect harmony between freshness, fruitiness and vinosity.
After bottling, the cuvée is aged for three years on its lees, well beyond the legal minimum of 15 months. This long aging in the cellar, at a constant temperature of 12°C, allows the effervescence to refine and the aromas to develop.
The color is a deep gold with amber highlights and a fine, persistent mousse.
The nose reveals floral notes of lime blossom and vine blossom, accompanied by slightly toasted fresh bread. With aeration, aromas of red fruit, citrus and honey emerge.
The attack is vinous and fruity, with flavors of redcurrant, raspberry, and ripe grape. Full-bodied and well-structured, the palate evolves towards a slightly brioche and toasted finish.
The price of a bottle of Royale Réserve Philipponnat is 45,95 €. This price reflects its careful blending, extended aging, and the addition of reserve wines aged in oak barrels, which give it its complexity.
Champagne lovers particularly appreciate its aromatic richness and beautiful length on the palate. Its balance between structure and freshness makes it a champagne that is as enjoyable as an aperitif as it is with a meal. Reviews of the Royale Réserve Brut Philipponnat
