      Description

The Brut Nature cuvée from Moutard embodies the purest expression of the Côte des Bar terroir. With no sugar added during disgorging, this champagne reveals a mineral and tense structure. Made from a majority of Pinot Noir, this cuvée offers a direct, precise and gastronomic style.

The production of Moutard's Brut Nature champagne

Brut Nature is a blended champagne composed of:

      • 80% Pinot Noir: brings richness, structure and intense fruity notes.
      • 20% Chardonnay: adds finesse, freshness and tension.

      The terroir

The grapes come from vines aged between 20 and 40 years old, planted on Kimmeridgian clay-limestone soil typical of the Côte des Bar. The vines are carefully tended, with winter plowing, debudding in May, and the addition of natural compost.

      Vinification

The grapes are gently pressed in a pneumatic press, then vinified in temperature-controlled vats after cold settling. The first fermentation takes place at between 18 and 20°C. The blend combines 20% reserve wines aged in 40-liter casks with wines from the latest harvest. Disgorging is carried out after 24 months of aging in the cellars of the house, without the addition of sugar, in a Brut Nature version.

      • Palate

The palate is lively and tangy, with a dense and complex texture. There is a beautiful minerality, with notes of lemon and toasted almonds. The finish is long and salty, with remarkable purity.
